Senator Laird and Senator Becker are being recognized for championing policies critical to meeting California’s clean energy goals
SACRAMENTO, Calif., March 14, 2024 – American Clean Power – California (ACP-CA) selects Senator Josh Becker (D-Menlo Park) and Senator John Laird (D-Monterey) as inaugural Clean Energy Leaders Award recipients in recognition of their outstanding commitment to advancing clean energy in California to meet our clean energy goals.
Senator Becker and Senator Laird have been at the forefront of supporting California’s transition to a clean energy future. Their efforts have significantly contributed to advancing policies that promote the growth of clean energy across the state.
“Today, we celebrate Senator Laird and Senator Becker for their exceptional leadership in clean energy,” said Alex Jackson, Director of ACP-CA. “Their thoughtful policymaking will help modernize transmission, create California’s first-ever offshore wind market, and establish California’s position as a clean energy leader.”
“It’s an honor to receive this Clean Energy Leaders Award for my work driving the state towards meeting its clean energy goals,” said Senator Becker. “Clean energy growth alongside vital investment in modern transmission systems is critical to our state’s sustainable economic future and addressing climate change.”

Senator Becker and Senator Laird were presented with their Clean Energy Leader Awards yesterday at a reception hosted by ACP-CA. The reception followed a lobby day where ACP-CA member companies shared an update with legislators on their priorities for California’s transition to 100% clean energy.
In selecting the award recipients, ACP-CA focused on policymakers who have significantly contributed to California’s clean energy advancements, addressing climate change, and deploying solutions that help achieve the state’s clean energy goals.
