PRESS RELEASE – American Clean Power – California Applauds Legislative Passage of Climate Bond for Prioritizing Offshore Wind

Proposition 4 includes funding for port and transmission infrastructure that will create the capacity for a robust offshore wind industry

SACRAMENTO, Calif., July 8, 2024 – The California legislature approved the Safe Drinking Water, Wildfire Prevention, Drought Preparedness, and Clean Air Bond Act of 2024, placing Proposition 4 on California voters’ ballots. The $10 billion climate bond includes $475 million for port infrastructure necessary to build offshore wind at scale and $325 million for transmission infrastructure critical to statewide clean energy deployment.

“We commend California’s leaders for passing a critically important climate bond that would enable offshore wind to play its necessary role in achieving 100% renewable energy in California,” said Molly Croll, Pacific Offshore Wind Director, American Clean Power Association. “Through port and transmission infrastructure funding included in Proposition 4, voters will have the opportunity to advance an offshore wind industry that can bring the benefits of thousands of high-paying jobs, energy reliability, and long-term affordability to Californians.”
